The European Commission is supporting and encouraging the adoption of widely accepted de jure standards: interviews are also available in the new MPEG4 standard format for testing and demo purposes.

INFORMATION ON SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

No plug-ins are required to view the video streaming, only a computer with Internet access and a browser are required.

  • Operating System: Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP or MacOS 9 and above
  • Web Browser: Internet Explorer 4 and above or Netscape 4 and above
  • Media Player: Windows Media Player 6.4 and above or Real player G2 and above.

It is preferable to check your system requirements, system set-up and log-in process before the event takes place (a day or a couple of hours).

Caution

  • Please ensure that all other software applications are shut down.
  1. Establish your Internet connection.
  2. Launch (start) your Internet browser (using either Internet Explorer or Netscape).
  3. Enter the URL address within your browser: http://managenergy.streamcasechannel.com/
  4. The streaming homepage will appear. Click on the button labelled view the live streaming. A window will pop up and promt you to select the desired Player and conference language (Real Player only)
PLAYER DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS:

If you would like to download a player in advance please choose one or both of the following links and follow the download instructions carefully.

To download Windows Media Player

  1. Open the Windows Media Technologies Download Center page in your web browser
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp";
  2. Select "Windows Media Player" from the "Select download" popup menu,
  3. Select the version which you wish to download from the "Select version" popup menu:
    • for Win98, Win 2000,Win Me, select "Player 7.1 for Win98, Win 2000,Win Me"
    • for Windows 95 and NT4, select "Player 6.4 for Windows 95 and NT4"
    • for Mac OS X, select "Player for Mac OS X"
    • for Mac OS 8.1 - OS 9.x, select "Player 7.1 for Mac (OS 8.1 thru OS 9.x)"
  4. The web page should then update, showing your selection.
  5. If required, select your prefered language from the "Select Language" popup menu.
  6. If you changed the language selection, the web page will update.
  7. Make sure that you have chosen the correct software to download (if not then repeat the process by selecting different options in the popup menus.
  8. Download the software to your hard disk by clicking the "Download Now" button.
  9. Launch the downloaded installed and follow the instructions to install the software.

To download RealOne Player

  1. Open the Real web page in your web browser http://www.real.com/;
  2. Click on "Free RealOne Player" link in the middle of the page.
  3. You are presented with a number of links to download the RealOne Player. Select a link representing a location near you to initiate the download.
  4. A popup window should now open, click on the link marked: "Click to commence download of RealNetworks Product"
  5. Once the download has completed, you are presented with a window namd "Download complete", click the "Run" button to launch the installer, follow the instructions to install the software.
MPEG 4 SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS:

You will need the Envivio Plugin for your media player (Macintosh and Linux version not yet available): this plugin is available for

You will need a version of one of these players installed on your machine to get started.
